ABOUT
Our Philosophy
Russell Godden Studio is based in Exeter, Devon, and our projects take us throughout the UK, with the majority focused in Devon, Cornwall, Somerset and Dorset. We work on a variety of project types from small garden designs to large country houses, estates and rural landscapes.
Russell Godden Studio is dedicated to creating spaces with a strong sense of place and ecological connection. Through creative exploration, technical knowledge and an analytical design approach, we deliver beautifully crafted spaces that revolve around striking planting schemes.

We seek to create impactful and immersive planting schemes that draw inspiration from natural plant communities. The schemes we create are dynamic with successive waves of colour, form and texture that create visual interest throughout the entire year. By creating plant communities suited to site conditions and that are inspired by natural plant communities, the schemes are long-lasting and low maintenance.

We create gardens that are carefully shaped around the nature of a place and the client's wishes. By using regional materials, nearby nurseries and local craftspeople, the resulting spaces are distinct and connected to the setting and owner.

Our designs prioritize environmental sustainability, climate resilience, and the enhancement of ecological diversity, ensuring that every landscape not only enhances its surroundings but also supports and sustains local ecosystems.
